Havant Leisure Centre was proud to provide the venue for the South's largest Koi Carp meet over the May bank holiday. The sports hall was packed with pools containing various varieties of the fish and many different stalls promoting the hobby of Koi keeping. This is the first time this annual event has been held at Havant leisure Centre and we were happy to see a good attendance of Carp enthusiasts.

In support of 'Action for Brain Injury Week' Mark Chapman swam over a mile at Havant Leisure Centre to promote awareness and raise funds for the charity 'Headway'. Horizon Leisure Centres and Havant Borough Council support the Government initiative to provide free swimming to the Under 16's and Over 60's for a 2-year period from 1 April 2009. However, the funding made available by the Government to support free swimming at Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres for these 2 age groups is significantly less than the income currently received. Horizon Leisure Centres works in partnership with Havant Borough Council. A good example of how this partnership works can be seen in the replacement of the lighting system in the small sports hall at Havant Leisure Centre. The new lights, paid for by the council, have replaced the old system with a new intelligent system.
