Horizon’s Family Fun Days Success!
Horizon Leisure Centres, the charity that runs Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres, threw open its doors to the community recently to provide a FREE Family Fun Open Day at each centre.
The Open Days were held on Saturday 30th July at Waterlooville and on Saturday 13 August at Havant. Over 4,000 people from the surrounding community took advantage over the two days and were delighted to be able to take part for FREE in a variety of activities including, swimming, inflatable swimming sessions, snorkeling, indoor play centre, badminton, basketball, table tennis, squash and adventure play.
Most families sampled a number of activities during their visit to the fun-filled days and every child went away happy and exhausted clutching their free balloon and party bag and most with painted faces. Adults were not forgotten either as the tea and coffee was provided free along with complimentary cake and biscuits.
Howard Broad, Horizon Leisure Centres Chief Executive said, “The Family Fun Open Days were an exciting opportunity for the local community to come and try out some of the many activities that the centres had to offer free of charge. As a charity, we wanted to give something back to the community as a thank you for all the support the community has given us over many years.”
The centres were delighted that the Mayor of Havant, Faith Ponsonby and her consort, Michael, were able to attend both Open days along with Trustees from Horizon. The Mayor toured the centres and spent much time chatting to the families who appreciated her friendly manner.
